Once again, the David Eccles School of Business hosts the perfect place for aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs to dive into the world of business.

The DECA Competition is hosted by DECA, a society that prepares young emerging high school to college level  leaders and entrepreneurs to be college and career ready. Through classroom instruction and applied learning, students will connect to business through competition.

Here are a few students who shared their experience at the DECA competition that took place on Jan. 29, 2016.

Eccles School: Why did you get involved with DECA?

Gessel: I first heard about DECA at Utah Business Week. I then helped start a chapter at East High School. I am now the Vice President of DECA Chapter at East High School. I thought it would be a great way to learn and gain experience outside of the high school community.

Eccles School: Why did you get involved with DECA?

Welch: I have always loved marketing and the aspects of it. I just never thought I would have the time to be a part of an organization with my studies in high school. Eccles School: What is your impression of the Eccles School?

Welch: As I was walking in this morning, I was a little intimidated because I feel like the school is really Ivy League. But the school is really nice looking and very welcoming. I could see myself going here one day!
