Collegiate DECA is a student-driven organization that values competence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork. We prepare students for careers by integrating skills learned in the classroom into real world experiences. Collegiate DECA programs assist in developing academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders. Our students major in a variety of academic programs, with a strong focus on business-related fields. Collegiate DECA conferences and other activities give students unique access to internships, scholarships, competition, and professional networking.

This program brings students who have similar desires to work in investment banking, management consulting, or as a Fortune 500 analyst together. Students receive feedback and advice on creating a competitive, job-specific resume and learn how to succeed in finance and case interviews. In addition, students also gain opportunities to compete for positions at top firms. Open to all University of Utah students. To apply, students must be a sophomore, junior, or senior, with a GPA of at least 3.4, or a compelling resume, and a strong work ethic.

American Marketing Association (AMA) The activities of the University of Utah collegiate chapter of the AMA include: public service projects, professional development seminars, marketing-oriented site visits, and arranging on-campus social activities. Collegiate members participate in events sponsored by the professional Utah AMA chapter and network intimately with local marketing practitioners. Students get hands-on marketing experience, which helps develop their knowledge and skills beyond the classroom. This in turn, opens up career opportunities in today’s competitive job market. Membership is open to students from all disciplines with no academic restrictions and is a bridge to the professional AMA organization upon graduation.

Business Student Giving Board (BSGB)

The Business Student Giving Board (BSGB) is designed to create a culture of philanthropy within the student body and to educate students about the importance of giving back. The BSGB oversees the annual Student Giving Campaign, which includes the Student Giving 5K Fun Run/Walk and a dunk tank activity, wherein the deans are dunked to raise funds for business student scholarships. The number of students participating in giving back is a factor considered in the ranking systems for business schools.

The Foundry was inaugurated Summer Semester 2010 with the stated goal of forging entrepreneurs for life by using the day-to-day crucible of company building as its context. The program accelerates the development of management capability, increases the likelihood of new venture success, and creates a community of capable entrepreneurial leaders. The first cohort of 24 teams was drawn from an applicant pool from the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, and Utah State University.

The University Impact Fund (UIF) taps into the emerging "impact investing” industry that applies the disciplined methods of private equity investing—from due diligence to exit strategies—to the desire to solve some of the world’s most vexing social and environmental problems. Impact investors, for example, may put profit-seeking capital into services such as micro loans, mobile banking, or affordable housing for people at the bottom of the global economic pyramid, nearly four billion of whom live on less than two dollars a day.

UIF students will participate in a hands-on business education program, not a classroom exercise. Students will work
with entrepreneurs, CEOs, and investors and are responsible for due diligence, market analysis, and the entire spectrum of tasks critical to the fast-paced, high-risk world of venture capital.
