Application Instructions
Following are instructions for application to a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Please review the information carefully to ensure your application receives full consideration.
Admission Criteria
Applicants are evaluated on the basis of required coursework completed, grades, and the strength and nature of the applicant pool. While applicants may apply to the School of Accounting at the same time as application to Upper Division, applicants must first be admitted to Upper Division in order to be admitted to the School of Accounting.
Applicants must meet a minimum standard in order to be considered for admission to the School of Accounting. However, meeting the minimum standards does not guarantee admission into the School of Accounting.
The minimum standards set by the School of Accounting are as follows:
- All applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- A “B” or better in ACCTG 2600 or its equivalent.
- A “B” or better in College Algebra or higher.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.1
- Applicants will not be considered if they do not meet ANY of the above criteria.

Application Instructions
Enter your grades for the classes listed. If you are seeking a double major, you need to submit a separate application for each major. Admission into the School of Accounting does not guarantee admission to another business major.
Decision Notification
Students who submit a complete application will be notified of the admission decision at their University of Utah e-mail address in time for registration for the following semester. The committee reserves the right to defer making a decision until grades are available.
