The University of Utah Professional MBA program (PMBA) is a 24-month, 48-credit hour general business and management degree designed for working professionals who have one or more years of full-time work experience and wish to continue working while earning a degree.

Accreditation and Ranking

U.S. News and World Report has just ranked the University of Utah's PMBA program as:

  • #1 in the state of Utah
  • #23 among public universities
  • #45 in the U.S.

The David Eccles School of Business is internationally accredited by the AACSB, the highest standard of quality achievement for business schools. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in management education.

World-Class Faculty

You will be taught by the same DESB faculty that the London-based Financial Times has ranked as #22 in the U.S. for research and business expertise. The faculty at the David Eccles School of Business are thought leaders and leading researchers whose expertise creates an environment for learning and experiencing new and innovative business concepts and practices.  Our faculty consists of award winning researchers, corporate success stories, sought-after experts, authors, and accomplished teachers. Their passion and expertise in business have influenced generations of professionals.

Work/Life Balance

We understand that our students are balancing an education along with work, family, and other outside activities. The PMBA program classes are scheduled so that students attend classes two evenings each week. This allows you to continue working during the day while balancing your educational and personal life.

Personalized Education

The first year of the program is a set core curriculum which develops a strong foundation in the major business disciplines. Rather than a rigid, fixed curriculum throughout the entire program, the second year is composed of electives, 40% of the program. These electives allow you to personalize your education to help you meet your career goals. Elective courses are offered in accounting, finance, information systems, management, marketing, and operations.

Return on Investment

The PMBA program is an investment that pays dividends through personal as well as professional growth, and provides opportunities for promotions and salary increases. In a recent survey done by BusinessWeek, graduates of the University of Utah Professional MBA program reported an average salary increase of 34% upon graduation.

Highly ranked faculty provide you with a real-time educational experience which allows you to immediately apply the principles learned in class to work, enabling you to further enhance your current job performance. Networking opportunities and career services also provide you with tools to advance your career.
