On November 7th, as part of the second annual MS Finance Preview Day event, the MS Finance program at the David Eccles School of Business welcomed 30 prospective students from regional universities to experience the graduate finance program for a day, including the first-ever MS Finance-sponsored case competition.

Prospective students heard mini lectures from finance professors Robert Dubil and Jim Schallheim, as well as a program overview from Program Director Danny Wall. Greg Bisping, MSF career coach, shared success stories from recent finance graduates and explained the abundant resources available to help MSF students find and secure great positions after graduation. Attendees also had the chance to meet and network with current students, recent alumni and the MS Finance Professional-in-Residence Kent Cannon.

The second-annual MS Finance Preview Day also included an inaugural case competition. Teams from Dixie State University and Southern Utah University shared their solutions for a finance case problem and competed for $800 worth of prizes. A judge’s panel of local finance professionals awarded the grand prize to the team from Dixie State.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the positive response we’ve received about this event. Our Preview Day is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to learn how the MS Finance program can help prepare them for a successful career in finance. This event has also allowed us to continue to build strong relationships with other state and regional institutions, which is a top priority for the School of Business,” said Danny Wall, MS Finance Program Director.

This is an annual event sponsored by the David Eccles School of Business and is designed to introduce talented undergraduates from across the region to the benefits of pursuing a graduate degree in finance at the University of Utah.
