Marci Butterfield, an associate professor at the David Eccles School of Business’s School of Accounting, was recently named an Outstanding Faculty Advisor award winner by Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting honor society for students and professionals that boasts more than 300 chapters on college campuses.

Butterfield is one of only four winners of the honor from across the country, and will collect a $5,000 prize and plaque from McGladrey LLP at BAP’s annual conference later this year in Atlanta.

“I have been involved with Beta Alpha Psi for a long time,” Butterfield said when the award was announced. “I was the president when I was a student here–I was older with six young children–and now I have been the faculty advisor for about 10 years. It is such a privilege to work with such fine students, and I feel very honored to be recognized.”

Martha Eining, director of the School of Accounting, said the award for Butterfield is well-deserved.

“Marci is an amazing Advisor for BAP,” Eining said. “She works with the students during the year and continually through the summer to help them prepare for the year ahead. Under her leadership the membership has tripled and the students get so much out of their experiences. She is dedicated to the students and their success and you can tell how much she loves being the BAP Advisor.”

Faculty Advisors often work many additional hours to be present at various Beta Alpha Psi meetings, community service activities, firm receptions, member initiations, and to meet with chapter officers to plan for the months ahead.
