The Daniel Fund Ethics Initiative has been involved in creating and offering students at the David Eccles School of Business opportunities to engage in projects emphasizing the importance of ethical decision-making.

Now the organization is reaching out beyond the school in partnership with the Community Foundation of Utah and the Daniels Fund to offer a new award to non-profit organizations, government agencies and business that best exemplify ethical practices.

The Salt Lake Tribune recently published a story about the awards—to be called the Bill Daniels Ethical Leadership Awards—and talked to Full-time MBA Program Director Dave Harris about some students’ involvement in creating the application for the new awards.

Harris told the Tribune that students in an Integrative Experience class took on the task, and learned “the importance of time management and also learned the importance area organizations placed on ethical behavior.”

You can read the Tribune story right here.

The deadline for the awards is Aug. 4. Visit the Utah Community Foundation website for more information and to apply or nominate an organization for the award.

Three finalists will be selected from the applicants, with a winner awarded at a celebratory breakfast at the David Eccles School of Business on Aug. 18.
