College football games and tailgate parties go hand-in-hand, but the students at the David Eccles School of Business’s Business Leaders Inc. didn’t just throw a rager for the homecoming game this year. They turned their tailgate into something more. BLInc Marketing Chair Scott Hamilton, a pre-business student planning on majoring in Marketing, writes:

On the day of the U’s homecoming game, many football fans had the opportunity to stop by BLInc’s tailgating service event. With CrossFit competitions awarding memberships to the victors and the opportunity to support Special Olympics either via cash donations or signing up to volunteer at Special Olympics events, it was an event that benefited all those involved.

In the short hours this service opportunity was running, BLInc was able to raise more than $500 for Special Olympics Utah. Page after page of friendly additions were made to their volunteer list as well, leaving those involved with a great feeling, knowing they had supported such a great cause. Garrett Nord, BLInc vice-chair of events, said about the experience, “We had great participation, a great turnout, and a successful event overall. As BLInc hosted this event, we all were happy knowing that Special Olympics Utah benefitted.”

Well done, BLInc students!
