Get ready, business enthusiasts! ABC’s “Shark Tank” is coming to the University of Utah for auditions.

Shark Tank is an Emmy-winning, business-themed reality show where entrepreneurs can present their existing business or business ideas to a group of venture capitalists (five self-made millionaire and billionaire investors) for the purpose of striking a deal to acquire funding to grow, save or jumpstart their business. Among the investors are Mark Cuban, who is a well-known entrepreneur and is the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and Barbara Corcoran, who owns a house in Park City, where she has been known to hold retreats for the top entrepreneurs she works with.

Hosted by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, auditions will take place on Thursday, April 16. Spectators can attend the auditions from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building (SFEBB) Room 5130.

Those who would like to audition must register with the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute by clicking here. You will then be sent the required registration form that you must bring to the audition. All University of Utah alumni, faculty, staff and students are invited to pitch their ideas at this event.

There will also be an open call for the general public to audition on Friday, April 17 at Salt Lake Community College; however, those associated with the University of Utah are encouraged to attend the Thursday auditions as shorter wait times and more time per participant is expected at the Thursday event. Information for the open call auditions can be found here.
