Master of Healthcare Administration
The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) gives students advanced and specialized professional preparation for careers in healthcare administration. The degree prepares students for administrative, policy, and planning positions in both the public and private sectors. The dual degree format can be completed in about three years.
The MHA uses a novel dual format; students must apply and be admitted to another master's degree program at the University of Utah in order to be admitted to the MHA. This format gives our students a leg up in the competitive healthcare field, as they graduate with an increased depth of knowledge in business, policy, or public health.
The MHA curriculum reflects a focus on interdisciplinary training in leadership, change management, teamwork, and process improvement techniques; expertise and skills necessary to improve the clinical quality and cost-effectiveness of healthcare and healthcare delivery.
In addition to the MHA degree, there are also four MHA dual degree programs available: MBA/MHA, PMBA/MHA, MPA/MHA, and MPH/MHA.
MHA Comparison The MHA can be combined with other programs of study. By combining the MHA with an MBA, PMBA, MPA, or MPH, students are able to maximize their educational experience by earning complimentary degrees. See the MHA Comparison Sheet to learn about available options. |
