MAcc Student Testimonials
Adam W. Campbell, Class of 2012
Controller, The ROC Fund, LP
The U of U MAcc program has helped me gain a competitive edge in my workplace by allowing me to take elective courses in other business related fields of study that have helped me fill the needs of my employer. I was literally able to find areas of improvement within my company and take courses the following semesters that addressed the very problems that we were faced with at work.
I also found the professors at the David Eccles School of Business to be skilled in teaching practical business solutions and not just theoretical information. It has been my experience that the Business school has an extremely strong local and international alumni support network and their administration is dedicated to helping the students gain a world class education for those who are willing to go the extra mile.
Kat Seltzer, Class of 2011
Auditor, KPMG
As a military spouse, frequent job change is part of my lifestyle. So, in search of a fitting career, I chose to pursue a degree program where I could develop a professional skill set desirable in any job market. The MAcc program at the University of Utah taught me the language of business, helped me land my first accounting position, and contributed to my success on the CPA exams. I have no doubt that both the degree and experience I’ve gained from the U will further serve me as I approach new career opportunities and obstacles on our next adventure with the Air Force.

The Master of Accounting program at the University of Utah was a great and worthwhile program. The courses have helped to develop my understanding of accounting as well as have given me skills to be a successful auditor, and helped to prepare me to take the CPA exam. The Master of Accounting program at the University of Utah was a perfect culmination to my undergraduate studies. It blended my basic understanding of accounting with high-level insight about the profession and its place in the economy and society. The passion and knowledge of the faculty facilitated my learning by pushing me to think beyond the numbers, and instead, understand the application, impact, and meaning of financial information on businesses and people. It was easy to experience the excitement each professor proffered about their various areas of expertise. The programs courses helped me gain the confidence that I was ready to start a successful career.
The curriculum piqued my fascination with the breadth and depth of the accounting profession and offered a profound realization of the value and vast possibilities that an accounting degree offers. It also featured an invaluable focus on soft-skills to help develop my interpersonal skills outside of financial information. The faculty and ambition of my fellow students fostered a wonderful professional atmosphere -- helping me feel and act as if I had already succeeded. Their exceptional quality produced meaningful, reliable group work. Working in teams was a valuable feature of the program and became vital to furthering my comprehension of accounting and its application. Overall, the program was an invaluable experience to prepare me for success in my career and passing the CPA.
Kandice Lambert, Class of 2010
CPA, Squire & Company
Obtaining a MAcc at the University of Utah significantly impacted my career path. Not only did it prepare me for the CPA exam, which I passed on the first try, it also gave me exposure to so many aspects of the business to make me successful in the accounting world. I have applied what I learned countless times and each time I am reminded of what an advantage I have, being a U of U MAcc graduate. Beyond that, I gained so many great friendships with my peers; I met some of my closest friends in the MAcc program. Further, the faculty really care about the students. I turned to them to help me sort through my recruiting options; not only did they make time for me, they also gave me relevant and helpful advice. Lastly, the exposure that MAcc students get to recruiters is amazing and the career counselor will do whatever it takes to make sure there are plenty of opportunities for students to graduate with careers in accounting. I would recommend this MAcc program to anyone looking to walk away with more than a degree, but something that will better him/her in his/her career and personal life.
