U administrator appointed to Executive MBA Council

The Executive MBA program at the David Eccles School of Business continues to gain momentum as a leader at educating business leaders.   The Executive MBA program was recently recognized in the Financial Times’ annual rankings, 30 in the US and 77 in the world.  The business programs at the DESB continue to increase in ranking and reputation thanks to faculty and staff, one of whom is gaining notoriety as a leader in the executive education community.

Brad Vierig, assistant dean of Executive Education for the David Eccles School of Business was recently appointed as chair of the Executive MBA Council, a group dedicated to advancing the education of executives around the world.  More specifically, the group serves as a mediator for collaboration among Executive MBA programs from around the world.  The council has more than 200 member colleges and universities worldwide, which offer more than 300 programs in 25 countries.  As chair of the Executive MBA Council, Vierig joins representatives from other Executive MBA programs including Columbia, Wharton, Minnesota, Alabama, EADA (Spain), Michigan State, INCAE (Costa Rica), Ohio, UCLA, and Loyola.  As a council their agenda includes increasing council membership around the globe and strengthening the Executive MBA brand.

In congratulating Vierig on the appointment, University of Utah President, Michael K. Young emphasized the gratification that resulted from knowing that leadership from the David Eccles School of Business will be involved with addressing education issues on an international level.

Vierig has served as assistant dean and director of the Executive MBA program at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business for nine years.  In addition to his administrative role he teaches the Corporate Finance class in the Executive MBA program.  Prior to joining the David Eccles School of Business, Vierig had a career that included ten years as a senior financial executive with American Stores Company and ten successful years in the auditing and accounting division of Ernst & Young.

The Executive MBA Program at the University of Utah is dedicated to advancing successful business professionals.  The program is designed to accommodate schedules of top-level executives, many of whom live in the Salt Lake City and surrounding areas as well as those who travel to the campus from other states.
