University of Utah commencement and convocation ceremonies are held annually at the conclusion of spring semester. Spring 2009 ceremonies will be held on May 8th for students who are degree candidates for summer 2008, fall 2008, spring 2009 and summer 2009.
Commencement is held at 9:00 a.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. This year's featured speaker is acclaimed author, David McCullough. At the end of the commencement ceremony degrees are conferred en masse by University of Utah President Michael K. Young.
Those unable to attend commencement can watch the broadcast of the ceremony on KUED. This broadcast will also be available online.
In addition to general commencement, each college holds a convocation ceremony, where students are acknowledged individually by degree.
