Business Major Requirements

No matter what degree(s) in Business you decide to pursue, the requirements for the first two years are generally the same. Students can apply to become business majors anytime during their college years as long as they meet the admission criteria. However, students who wish to graduate in four years with a Business degree should follow the following suggested schedule:
Pre Business Courses:
Math 1050 or 1090 - College Algebra (B or better)
Math 1100 - Quantitative Analysis (Prereq: Math 1090)
Writing 2010 - Intermediate Writing (B or better)
Information Systems 2010 - Computer Essentials (B- or better)
Economics 2010 - Microeconomics
Economics 2020 - Macroeconomics
Communication 1010 or 1020 - Elements of Speech or Public Speaking (B- or better)
Philosophy 1001 or select from list
Psychology, Sociology, or Anthropology (2 of the 3) Must be at least 3 credit hours each Business 1050 - Foundations of Business Thought
Students must have an overall GPA of 2.70 or above to receive Intermediate status. Students cannot register for Acct 2010, 2020, OIS 2340, or 3440 without Intermediate status. All students in intermediate and upper division pay a $50.00 fee per semester.

Accounting 2020 - Intro to Managerial Acctg. (Prereq: Acct 2010)
OIS 2340 - Statistics I (Prereq: Math 1100, IS 2010)
OIS 3440 - Statistics II (Prereq: OIS 2340)
Writing 3016 - Business Writing
Information Systems 4410 - Information Systems
Management 3680 - Human Behavior in Organizations
Marketing 3010 - Principles of Marketing

Finance 3040 - Financial Management (Prereq: Acct 2020, OIS 3440, Econ 2010)
Finance 3050 - Introduction to Investments (Prereq: Fin 3040, OIS 3440)
Management 3410 - Business Law
OIS 3660 - Production/Operations Management
Management 5700 - Advanced Management (Prereq: Fin 3040, OIS 3660, 3680, Mktg 3010)
Global Perspectives I
Global Perspectives II (Any 3000-5999 course with an international emphasis, 3-5 hours)

Accounting 5110, 5120, 5130, 5210, 5310, 5410, 5510. Take Finance 4550 and Acctg 5140 as the two required International Electives. |

Business Administration: |
A minimum of five 3 credit hour electives taken from at least three departments (Accounting, IS, Finance, Management, or Marketing), can be taken in any combination, e.g. 3 management, 1 finance, 1 marketing; or 2 management, 2 finance, marketing. |

Business Administration, International Emphasis: |
Finance 4550, Mgt 3430, Mgt 4900, Mktg 4840 and one elective. |

Entrepreneurship: |
Finance (Ent)5300, Management (Ent)3700, 5770, Marketing (Ent) 4700 and one Elective from Entrepreneurism Elective list. Mgt (Ent) 4560 is suggested as an elective. |

Finance: |
Two of the following three: Finance 4040 or 4050 and /or 4210, plus three additional finance courses (minimum of 9 hours) at the 3000-5999 level of the finance elective courses (except for Fin 3000). Take Finance 4550 as one of the two required International Electives. (Finance 4550 will not double count as one of the 3 Finance electives.) Students in the Finance Honors track should take Finance 3041 and 4220 in place of Finance 3040 and 4210. |

Management: |
Management 3800 and 5510 or OIS 5660 plus three additional management courses (minimum of 9 hours) at the 3000-5999 level of the management elective courses (except for Mgt 3500). Take Mgt 4900as one of the two required International Electives. (Mgt 4900 will not double count as one of the 3 Mgt electives.) |

Marketing: |
Marketing 4020 and 4450, plus three additional marketing courses (minimum of 9 hours) at the 3000-5999 level of the marketing elective courses (except for Mktg 3000). Take Mktg 4840 as one of the two required International Electives. (Mktg 4840 will not double count as one of the 3 Mktg electives.)

IS 4415, 4420, 4430, 4460, 4470, and 4480. |

CORRESPONDENCE STUDY
A maximum of 9 credit hours of correspondence study are accepted to fill first and second year requirements only. Students are not allowed to take business classes numbered 3000 and above through correspondence study.
