ESL Education| ESL service offers tax education to ESL taxpayers.   There are many individuals in our community who have lived in other countries where tax laws are very different.  Understanding the state and national tax system can be frustrating.  Many are ill informed and unaware of where to turn for help with tax issues.  The LITC goes out into the community to teach ESL taxpayers about the complex taxation system here in the United States.  Lessons discussed include issues we see at the LITC such as:

·         What is a tax return?

·         Do you need to file a tax return?

·         Who qualifies as a dependent?

·         Who qualifies for the earned income tax credit?

·         What are income taxes used for?

Outreach Opportunities

Outreach | The UULITC outreach programs are designed to educate ESL taxpayers about their federal taxpayer rights and responsibilities. Outreach opportunities can take many other forms such as

  • One-on-one consultations
  • Informational workshops on topics such as the Earned Income Tax Credit
  • Weekly outreach programs at a local community center
  • Handing out brochures at a local community event

If you are affiliated with a group that can benefit from our ESL informational services, please call or email and we will talk to you about how we can help educate and inform your community pertaining to IRS issues.
