Important Tax Information
EITC | Do you qualify for the earned income tax credit (EITC)? The EITC is a credit
for people who earn low-to-moderate incomes. This credit can be in excess of $4,000 a year! The EITC can reduce your tax liability, which means you either receive a refund instead of owing taxes at the end of the year, or you may increase your refund! In simple terms, working families and individuals may keep more of what they work for. To be eligible you must meet the following EITC requirements:
- Have a valid Social Security Number
- Have income from working
- Be either (1) a U.S. citizen or resident alien all year, (2) a nonresident alien married to a U.S. citizen, or (3) resident alien and filing a joint return. If you would like more information concerning the EITC click here.
Do you qualify for mortgage debt forgiveness?
Mortgage Debt Relief| If you are unable to pay your house payment the mortgage company will foreclose on your home and sell your house to the highest bidder. If the bid price of the house is greater than what you owe, you don’t have any debt to forgive. If the bid price of the house is less than what you owe the mortgage company, the difference is debt forgiveness and must then be included in your income.
