Research Statements:
My research interests are in the broad areas of Management of Technology, Retail Supply Chain Management, Operations Strategy and Health Care Operations. Motivated by real world problems, my research agenda often follows an interdiscplinary approach and has an empirical orientation.
My current research projects are organized around three streams.
The first stream is focused on understanding how firms, enabled by technologies, customize their products for customers in the context of electronic retailing. Specifically, this stream of research is focused on addressing the questions of what, how, where, when, and so what questions of customization in the context of electronic retailing. A related area of research is the customization of the order fulfillment processes, the last mile in the retail supply chains, to the product type in electronic retailing.
The second stream of research is focused on understanding the role of technology in signaling product quality to potential customers and how it affects the market performance of a firm. Specifically, it if focused on addressing the questions of how product quality evaluations (hosted by 3rd-party product review sites) affect the product performance in the market and how can firms use this information in their product development and retailing efforts.
The third stream of research is placed in the context of the medical device industry. It investigates into the process of product recalls in the medical device industry and the impact of product recalls on the financial performance of firms.
