Convocation is an annual event that honors Spencer Fox Eccles for his significant role securing a $15 million endowment for the David Eccles School in 1991 by his aunt, Emma Eccles Jones.

The school is named after Mr. Eccles' grandfather, David Eccles, honoring his achievement as a pioneer industrialist and entrepreneur in the Intermountain Region at the turn of the century. Emma Eccles Jones was the last surviving child of David Eccles, and she past away six months after she made the gift to the David Eccles School.

Convocation speakers are business leaders who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit of David Eccles. They are asked to speak on lessons they have learned in business.
