Lori Hacking Soares Scholarship Students Graduate While Preserving Memory
Branddy Stevenson and Tammy Larsen had distant dreams of obtaining a degree from the University of Utah, but never thought they would get the chance. On May 4th, both students and Lori Hacking Soares scholarship recipients will graduate from the David Eccles School of Business and carry on Lori's memory as they venture out into the business world.
In its second year, the scholarship was established with donations from around the world. So far, three females from the David Eccles School of Business have graduated while receiving a scholarship that makes their dreams of obtaining a college degree possible. Thelma and Eraldo Soares are proud to see Branddy and Tammy graduate on Friday and plan to attend graduation ceremonies. "I'm delighted that two more of Lori's scholarship recipients are graduating this spring," said Thelma. "These two young women are outstanding students, as Lori was, and I'm sure she is pleased as I am that they are now able to move ahead of their lives." Eraldo is elated to see this year's scholarship recipients graduate. "Branddy and Tammy have successfully honored my daughter's memory," he said.
The Lori Hacking Soares scholarship awards two scholarships each year to students who might not otherwise be able to afford the cost of higher education. Each student recipient has overcome significant life struggles and is held to a high level of academic achievement.
