Program Overview

To be successful in business, you need to understand the foundations, concepts, and techniques that form the basis for management today as well as the business vocabulary that improves communication and enhances individual and corporate performance. Within every organization there are many individuals interested in developing their talents and contributing significantly to their firm’s success. They are eager to learn more about management, strategy, marketing and finance, take on new responsibilities, and play an integral role in achieving individual and corporate goals.

The Business Essentials Certificate Program offers an overview of the key concepts, tools, and techniques that are required to achieve success. The program features focused learning experiences and case studies centered on vital subject areas in the business world with an emphasis on practical application. By examining and discussing case studies participants will walk away with new strategies to succeed in today’s challenging business environment.

Program Objectives

The Business Essentials Certificate Program helps you become more effective by providing a solid foundation in current business theory and practice. After completing the program you will be able to significantly enhance individual and organizational performance, understand the most important managerial concepts for each functional area, control expenses and promote productivity, communicate and work more effectively, improve your abilities to tie functional areas together in order to grow revenue, and create learning networks to promote business opportunities.

Certificate Program Features

The Business Essentials Certificate Program is a non-degree professional development program.
Weekend, Day and Evening programs are available.
Program will be delivered through lecture, case studies, short video clips, role playing and group work.
Tuition includes instruction materials, books, meals, and parking.
Certificate: All participants attending a minimum of 7 of the 8 sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion from the University of Utah, David Eccles School of Business, Executive Education Center.
Professional Development Units (PDUs) and Continuing Education Units (CEUs): This program qualifies for up to 70 PDUs and 7.0 CEUs, based on attendance.

Who Should Attend

This program is designed for experienced or high potential managers or professionals who are seeking a stronger foundation in current business theory and practice, or who have experience in one area and want exposure to other areas to qualify for positions of increased responsibility. Technical professionals making the transition into management positions and those considering an MBA program will also find the Business Essentials Certificate Program a valuable learning experience.
